How would you like to catch up to 6 crabs with one pull of a trap?  Sound impossible? Not anymore...

Now you can catch up to 6 crabs with the new “Big Gun” stackable crab trap designed and used by Captain Bruce.  This trap is NOT designed to replace your regular Stackable Crab Traps, but rather to supplement it.  It’s purpose is to give you another tool for your crab catching tool box.

How to use the “BIG GUN” Stackable Crab Trap - Captain Bruce's Crabbing Technique:

• Begin the crabbing day by finding out where the crabs are feeding for that day.  You can do this by baiting your traps with FRESH chicken necks!  Once the traps are baited, lay out one line (about half of your traps) in the shallow water and the other half in deeper water.

• After the baiting and the laying out of the traps are completed, make a run and begin pulling up the traps and most importantly -- noticing where the best crab bites are happening.  And then……the fun begins!

• After you catch a crab in the same trap, for two times in a row (or 2 out of 3 runs) bring out the “Big Gun” - The Largest Crab Trap Allowed by Maryland Law!

• Bait up the Big GUN Stackable crab trap with 6 or more Fresh Chicken Necks and  remove the regular stackable crab trap (put it at the end of the crab trap line replacing the Little Foot with the Big Gun in the “HOT SPOT”).

• Years of crabbing with crab traps have taught me that crabs don’t like to share baits, but they don’t mind eating with other crabs in the same trap (as long as they have their own bait and don’t have to share)

• This will allow you to catch up to 6 crabs in one trap with one pull!

• Now... you won’t catch 6 crabs every time you throw the Big Gun trap in the water BUT when the feeding frenzy begins, you will definitely catch more than one crab at a time.

The Perfect Trap for the Hot Spots in Your Line

Every Crabber has a “hot spot” in their line. A hot spot is defined as the traps that almost always produces a crab every time you pull it up. The Big Foot Stackable crab trap (with extra stainless steel bait spring) is the right tool for the job!  This trap was designed to allow you to take full advantage of this hot spot by putting more baits in this hot area of the river resulting in YOU catching more crabs.  The reason is simple:  The Big Foot stackable crab trap allows you to put more baits, and a larger trap, in this hot area.

The Bottom Line is…  more crabs…  with less traps…  in less time!

The way I use my Little Foot, Big Foot and Big Gun Traps is...  I lay my Little Foot size stackable crab traps out in different areas and in different depths. As soon as I begin to catch crabs from a Little Foot trap, I cut my Bait in half and bait up a BIG FOOT or Big GUN Trap with 5 or 6 pieces of bait and replace the Little Foot traps with the Big Foot and Big Guns Traps.  I also move the Little Foot traps at the end of the line. I keep doing this over and over again, until all of my hot spots are covered with Big Foot and Big Guns Traps with multiple Baits.  I continue this process until I have all the crabs that I need for the day. 

Our personal best last year was 4 keeper crabs in 1 Big Foot trap in 1 pull and a bushel in 45 minutes... using this method.
